Week 3
This week, we brought our board games to class. Our group was working on a Folk game that's like a tug of war type of game.
Rules and description made by my partner:
"Our concept seems to revolve around an identity tug of war game. Taking inspiration from DeepFun.com, we currently have a hybrid/fusion between an identity game and ultimate rock paper scissors in which we pair players to discover their true opponent’s identity. I believe our current rendition has players situated across from each other gathering hints and clues about their opponent.
With a total of 5 pieces, not counting the moveable piece in the center, each player will move the centerpiece forward or backward depending on which question they get correctly about their opponent. The main point here is for players to guess the other player’s identity and move the centerpiece to the complete opposite side of them. Conversely, for every question their opponent gets right, the piece moves closer to the player. Questions themselves can range from being superficial to deep questions. However, the same question can not be asked more than twice, and every response must be phrased in a question format.
Example: “Is your favorite color red?” or “Is your name John Smith?”
The best way my partners summarized this folk game is the icebreaker version of beer pong. Like beer pong in which players must use physical skill to score points, players will have to use wit and knowledge to score points against their opponent. The game can support up to pairs and teams making this ideal for those wanting to jump in the game at any point."
After we talked about our game and did a couple of try out and tried some of our classmates games and they explained how the game worked and we gave them tips on what could have changed that would make the game better. Dr. S asked us if we could change one rule in our game and would it make a huge difference in our Folk game. our group decided if you refused to answer a question, the opposite team can go up one.
